Listen. What else can we do?

A funny day in Kinokuniya

I was browsing through some books on East Asian Study when this guy approached and tried to talk to me. (I forgot his name, so just call him whatever you like.)
He told me that he already finished reading one of books which I had in my hand, and that he’s a professor in France, majoring in Political Science- that’s interesting I think! And I did respect him as a professor.(1.Note this, he said “French” instead of “France”. This shouldn’t be happened to someone who lives in FRANCE.)
Well I told him that I’m learning French in university too, and it’s very difficult for me. “C’est tres difficile!”… but he didn’t seem to understand what I said . So okay, maybe my pronunciation is a bit different, or maybe he didn’t understand my slang. Just forget it.

2.He said he was on vacation and he rented a house in KL, “you can come to my house!” (well… maybe he was trying to be friendly!)

3. He said he bought one of the books on the shelf. “I read it in French translated version” but hold on, I don’t think there is French version for that book… let me check online and see?…

4. Then he commented on Mr. Bush and Mr. Obama- he said Mr. Bush is Mr. War and Mr. Obama is Mr. Relax- easy come easy go. Then I said something regarding Realism and again--- no response from him. He is a professor and he didn’t seem to understand what I’m talking about… the basic theory for political study…surely not???

5. And next when he talked, I realized that he tried to get close to me, kept looking at me from up to down and from bottom to top, and even wanted to touch my hands! (Excuse me sir! Better make sure you put your hands at right place before I chop them off!)

6. He proudly said that he can speak 4 languages- English, French, Arabian and Spanish. Then I told him that I can speak English, Chinese, Malay, Japanese, Korean and now learning French. He looked amazed when he knew that I know more than him.
We kept talking a little bit, on some topics but the more we talked, the more obvious that he didn’t know and at last he wished me all the best and left.

So…. The conclusion is: Be professional---we must do some study before we lie!!
