Gender equality is no longer a new issue. In fact it has been often related to the idea of feminism. The world today is very much globalized and developed but then, there is still some part of it having trouble with the very basic humanity issue of gender. According to Professor True, who is also an author on international relations and politics, “Discrimination against women in all forms-be it education, race, ethnicity etc., has been happening all this while and even seen to be legitimated in some countries. “
India, Pakistan and Egypt are among those countries which have a pronounced gap in the belief of gender equality, according to a poll conducted by the Pew Research Center’s Global Attitudes Project in association with the International Herald Tribune in April and May. Opportunity for jobs and education are favored to men and boys even when women were as qualified.
The rise of more egalitarian attitudes toward the roles of women and men is a good thing at least, as people starting to question the issues of gender discrimination and injustice. Women rights, which is part of the human rights, has been given adequate attention in United Nations Commissions on Human Rights (UNCHR). Several programs had been carried out to promote the idea of gender equality. In addition, the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has been trying to include boys and men as a part of the body to promote women rights and “will make its commitment to gender equality a central and visible element of all its plans, policies, instructions and guidance.”
On the other hand, Women for Women International is a humanitarian organization that provides financial and emotional support to women survivors of war, which is co-founded by Zainab Salbi, an Iraqi-American writer and activist. Their programs help women achieve self-sufficiency through direct aid, rights education, job skills training and small business development. In 2005, the organization distributed $9.3 million in aid to 30,000 women.
As a feminist, I strongly agree that women deserve equal rights and opportunities as men. The entire societies can in fact develop better with contribution from woman and girls. Human- be it man or woman, we were born with the same inalienable rights including life, liberty and property. There should be no gap or differences between gender and women especially, should be given equal access to the opportunities as men. However, “it often took two generations before reality caught up with the changes in attitudes”, said Professor True.

Listen. What else can we do?
A funny day in Kinokuniya
I was browsing through some books on East Asian Study when this guy approached and tried to talk to me. (I forgot his name, so just call him whatever you like.)
He told me that he already finished reading one of books which I had in my hand, and that he’s a professor in France, majoring in Political Science- that’s interesting I think! And I did respect him as a professor.(1.Note this, he said “French” instead of “France”. This shouldn’t be happened to someone who lives in FRANCE.)
Well I told him that I’m learning French in university too, and it’s very difficult for me. “C’est tres difficile!”… but he didn’t seem to understand what I said . So okay, maybe my pronunciation is a bit different, or maybe he didn’t understand my slang. Just forget it.
2.He said he was on vacation and he rented a house in KL, “you can come to my house!” (well… maybe he was trying to be friendly!)
3. He said he bought one of the books on the shelf. “I read it in French translated version” but hold on, I don’t think there is French version for that book… let me check online and see?…
4. Then he commented on Mr. Bush and Mr. Obama- he said Mr. Bush is Mr. War and Mr. Obama is Mr. Relax- easy come easy go. Then I said something regarding Realism and again--- no response from him. He is a professor and he didn’t seem to understand what I’m talking about… the basic theory for political study…surely not???
5. And next when he talked, I realized that he tried to get close to me, kept looking at me from up to down and from bottom to top, and even wanted to touch my hands! (Excuse me sir! Better make sure you put your hands at right place before I chop them off!)
6. He proudly said that he can speak 4 languages- English, French, Arabian and Spanish. Then I told him that I can speak English, Chinese, Malay, Japanese, Korean and now learning French. He looked amazed when he knew that I know more than him.
We kept talking a little bit, on some topics but the more we talked, the more obvious that he didn’t know and at last he wished me all the best and left.
So…. The conclusion is: Be professional---we must do some study before we lie!!

Something in french...When I was 10 years old~ 法文小品?
This is my french term assignments, completed one hour ago~
Title: When I was 10 years old...

Merci!

Starbug Day~ *
After a long period of no-time-to-sleep struggle, finally I went out with Rudolf-The-Red-Nose-Adeliyn for a movie in Cheras Selatan. Too bad we were quite early and the movies were late so we decided to go Starbucks for some TiraMissU~~
I was, indecisive as usual so I took a last minute order for a Strawberry Smoothie. Apparently I was attracted by the colour- it looked nice and irresistible. But good-looking thing doesn't necessary to be nice. It was a bit sweet and too creamy for me to go until the bottom of the cup.
And we ordered a piece of Ipanema!
Ipanema was nice! Too nice for us to finish it in a flash without taking a picture! yum yum~
It really lightened up our day... So we ordered a 2nd piece of cake- the Rocky Road, and... it really will rock you up from the coffee table to argue with the waiter... for being suck. Imagining a layer of heavy peanut butter with some soggy crushed peanuts and soggy marshmallow cubes in between two blocks of dark, thick, hard chocolate cake----> Bizarre!!! Don't think I will order this lump again for the second time in my life.
Strawberry Smootie and Miss Rudolf!
In short.. it was a Starbug day!!!
P/s: To Yuko-san, if you happen to read this post, wanna ask you
WHEN WILL WE GO FOR AN AFTERNOON TEA LIKE THIS ??

Regional Disaster
Well couldn't really believe myself that I'm actually blogging when the Regional paper is coming on its way at a rapid speed!!
The class, all this while, seems to be easy and relaxing but none of us foresees the dangers and obstacles laid behind. So woohoo!! here's the consequence!!
Right now I can do nothing but pray, nothing but struggle, nothing but staying awake in this late silent night.
Quoting somebody, "Go with God"- hey I wish I could, buddy!!
